Engineer Sherine Fahmy received a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The American University in Cairo, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Engineering from the same university. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Certified Senior Management Trainer and Co-Active Coach.
She helped pioneer the beginnings of the Green Building movement in the Middle East. Starting in the UAE, she managed projects that worked on earning LEED Certification for over 70 commercial buildings and on making them more environmentally sustainable. As a LEED Consultant and adjunct faculty at the American University in Cairo, she was an active partner in the very first LEED Platinum project in Egypt and North Africa: The Credit Agricole Egypt Headquarters in New Cairo in addition to the LEED Gold certified Dar Al Handasah new premises in Smart Village, Giza and the LEED Gold certified Mall of Egypt.
Combining over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and training with business skills coaching, she has also delivered training courses to many corporate on the area of management skills and human development. Currently she is adjunct faculty at the American University in Cairo, teaching courses attended by corporate clients and graduate university students on the areas of environmental sustainability and LEED concepts.
Sherine is Co-Founder, Board Member and Treasurer of the Egypt Green Building Council, emerging member of the World Green Building Council, a nonprofit NGO with the objective of promoting the culture of Green Building in Egypt. With the help of a group of volunteers, Sherine is laying the foundation for a strong and effective green building council, also responsible for the development of TARSHEED, the green building rating system developed specially for Egypt.

He organized and launched an important number of scientific events and networks. He chaired the evaluation for national & regional programs, such as the Palestinian-Dutch Academic Cooperation Program on Water and the Euro-Mediterranean regional Program PRIMA. He joined the EMME-CCI Task Force on Water Resources and he is member many other international scientific boards such the Omani Energy Majlis, the International Desalination Association and the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technologies Network in Abu-Dhabi.
He is alumni of the Global Young Academy. He was nominated in 2011 by the French Ministry of High Education & Research as representative at the Intergovernmental framework for EU Cooperation in Science & Technology (TN1301). Dr. Jauad was one of 40 scientists worldwide selected for the “World Economic Forum-WEF’ for New Champions” in Tianjin, 2012. He became the founding curator of Nice’ hub Global Shapers -WEF (France).
He has published and contributed to hundreds of conferences in more than 55 countries, journals and reports in the aforementioned fields. He co-authored UNESCO Science Report 2015. He has built a strong record of attaining progressively responsible managerial positions during his 20 years international career (MENA & Europe) in relation with sustainability, climate change and management of natural resources (water, energy, agricultur.). He demonstrated efficiency in diversifying the funding of his organizations through obtaining funds from the European Commission programs (FP7, H2020, ENPI CBC Med, INCO MED, INCO NGOs, SMAP, LIFE, PRIMA, etc.) and also from international donors such as GIZ, USAID, and national ones (CSRs..)

Dr Hala Omar has a professional experience that spans over ten years at Dar Al-Handasah, Having a passion for making an impact through her work on the lives of the citizens and visitors of cities, Dr Omar joined Dar Al-Handasah where she worked on state-of-the art mega capital and infrastructure projects. Holding true to her passion, she found it to be imperative in today’s world to tackle complex problems through a sustainability lens to maximize the outcome of the solutions she designs, for that she has been certified to be an ambassador and official trainer of Sustainable Development by Egypt’s National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development the training arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. She is also a LEED Accredited Professional with a Building Design-Construction Specialty (LEED BD+C) and an active member in Egypt Green Building Council. In parallel to her professional journey, she has earned a Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo. Her dissertation and research focused on rural areas in Egypt to drive forward the agenda of improving well-being for rural dwellers across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. Ehsan Omar is an architectural engineer with 15 years of experiences in both academic and professional careers.
Currently, I am an assistant professor in three well known universities in Egypt: Ain Shams, Cairo and Nile Universities. I teach courses related to economics for sustainability, economics of green building, building physics, building optimization, building design and energy efficiency, circular economy and others. In 2021, I worked an a simulation consultant in Handover company where I was responsible for evaluating the thermal comfort level in buildings in design stage and in post operational stage. I used software such as IESVE and Design Builder. In 2019, I obtained PhD degree in architecture, built environment and construction engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. During that period, I was a visiting scholar in Gotland campus at Uppsala University in Sweden. I developed a categorization method to reduce the energy consumption on district level to be applied in Cairo. From 2005 to 2016, I studied postgraduate courses in Egypt and Italy. In addition, I used to work as a senior architect in international companies such as Zuhair Fayez Partnership.
